  • Sheree Aitken says:

This photoshoot is absolutely breathtaking! The deep blue, underwater theme has continued; and all for a worthy cause and inspiring reason. Our mermaids have surfaced from the depths of the ocean and are now mystical creatures embracing the shallow shores. A perfect location in Bondi, combining elements of water and land which reflect our sacred relationship with the beauty of nature and how we must preserve and protect it. Each image is powerful in its own interesting way but all come together flawlessly to project a captivating story with the mermaids alluring you in to their enchanting world. I have been beckoned, I am intrigued and I have awaken!

SURFACED- was an amazing shoot to work on with such an incredible, dedicated and talented team of belle flaneurs.
Working alongside my partners in styling nicole and natalie we envisioned such beauty and edge which proved itself on the day to be exactly what this shoot was.

    “from sea to shallow land”

I love the touches of turquoise dipped on the tips of the hair, as well nails, and eyes. similar to the colour of water………nearly colorless with a hint of blue.
Its interesting with shot 4 <-Blue Skirt and Grey top: seeing it in the flesh in the styling class today, never would of pictured that working so well- cool!
there is no denying that the last shot with her laying in the water gracefully …by far the best shot. However aside from that shot i love shot 10- semi naked (half women half fish) detail on leg with scales, and small rock detail (think its shadows) on right side
shot 1- Ben Buckler tries to find a place for his mermaid to sit
shot 2- Ben Buckler finds a rock to place his mermaids
shot 3- tossed around because of Council
shot 4- placed mermaid/mermaids on “mermaid rock”
shot 5- Close up of both the mermaids together
shot 6- looses one along the way
shot 7- time goes by (not a watch: wrist scuba mermaid watch) ….2 years to be exact (two shots depicting the years of being alone)
shot 8- reconnected with fellow mermaid
shot 9- the waves took her away
shot 10- alone- slowly deteriorating (head piece- shards are falling)
shot 11- taken away, but later to be admired by all (and everybody loves this shot)
Cool story! :) love it.. DETAIL :D

  • Chantelle Yianakis says:

this fashion story reminds me of the bondi mermaids: maybe i’m looking too into this- the poses, location, models…..
shot 1- Ben Buckler tries to find a place for his mermaid to sit
shot 2- Ben Buckler finds a rock to place his mermaids etc
    as mentioned above….

  • JOSHUA says:

Nice work girls! the last photo is AMAZING!

  • Nicole Ashley says:

The Final Edit! What an amazing story…. it is exactly what we envisioned! Working along side my bud lara and miss Flaneur herself was yet again a rewarding experience, as was the whole team on the day! I am so happy i was a part of this shoot and RELISHED every moment. Cant wait for the next one!

  • RR says:

I can totally see the inner mermaid in the last photo. She just can’t seem to leave the water as it is her life. She lives and breathes it.

  • dave says:

not bad for being on the dark side :-) next shoot northern beaches ! both girls were amazing and an absolute pleasure to photograph … BFs swarmed like black ants over rocks and pools ..dodging dog poop [funny as dogs arent allowed there] keeping it together on a long day … well done everyone

  • creselda says:

For awhile there, viewing these selected frames i was completely convinced and believed mermaids existed!! Every detail from each frame worked together and told me so! Hands down, the last photo (also the featured headline shot) is the one that brings it home for me! It’s so serene and ethereal! brings crazy goosebumps, i love it!!!
